Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Bookkeeper to join our statewide accounting team in Honolulu, Oahu. This role requires a highly accurate, experienced professional with a strong background in bookkeeping and accounting, specifically within QuickBooks Online. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, processing transactions, and supporting general accounting operations in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks Online.
  • Perform daily bookkeeping duties including accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), and bank reconciliations.
  • Enter and reconcile credit card transactions, vendor bills, and purchase orders.
  • Generate financial reports, job costing summaries, and internal reporting documents as needed.
  • Process payroll entries and coordinate with payroll processing provider when needed.
  • Manage general ledger entries and perform monthly and year-end closing procedures.
  • Ensure accurate classification of expenses and adherence to internal accounting policies.
  • Support the Controller with audits, budget tracking, and special projects.
  • Maintain digital and physical filing systems for invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation.
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal teams to resolve discrepancies or inquiries.
  • Assist in tracking subcontractor compliance and W-9 collection where applicable.
  • Occasional trips to the bank or other off-site errands may be required.
  • Experience using Bill.com for A/P and vendor management is highly desired.
  • Maintaining General Ledger: Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger by reconciling accounts and correcting discrepancies.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned. 

Requirements

  • Must reside on Oahu and work full-time from our Honolulu-based office.
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online is required.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and cloud-based document systems.
  • Experience in construction or service-based industry accounting is a plus.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently and reliably.
  • Confidentiality and discretion with sensitive financial information is essential.
  • Prior experience supporting multiple legal entities or subsidiaries is a plus.
